This is the bottled version of Harveys Traditional Draught Sussex Bitter. It is the most popular of all our bottled beers. Awarded first prize at the Intenational Brewers' Exhibition in 1976, this Premium Pale Ale is "dry hopped" during the period of maturation prior to being bottled.

India Pale Ale (3.2% ABV) 24 bottles 275ml
India Pale Ale (IPA) is brewed to a lower original gravity and this beer undergoes a similar process of maturation to the Blue Label. The result is a lighter, more mellow ale with a distinctive hop character.

A dry, heavily hopped strong pale ale with an extremely light colour. Originally commissioned by the National Maritime Museum for the quarter centenary celebrations of the defeat of the Spanish Armada by Sir Francis Drake. Harveys were requested to continue production by numerous devotees.

Tom Paine (5.5% ABV) 24 bottles 275ml
Brewed to commemorate the bicentenary of Thomas Paine's "The Rights of Man". It is thought that Paine help draught the American Declaration Of Independence. His work still ranks among the best sellers of all time. America celebrates Independence day on July 4th each year. CAMRA has designated July as a celebration of British Independent Brewers of which Harveys is one. Where ever your sympathies lie it is worth raising a glass of Tom Paine. A dry hopped strong pale ale awarded the Silver Medal at the BBI Awards in 1993.

Elizabethan Ale (8.1% ABV)  24 bottles 275mlElizabethan Ale (8.1% ABV) 24 bottles 275ml
Originally brewed to mark the Queen’s Coronation in 1953, this golden barley wine proved so popular that it has been brewed ever since. It is comparable in strength to the beer produced by Tudor brewers during the reign of Elizabeth I. It has won many prizes and, at the International Brewers’ Exhibition 1968, was awarded the Championship Gold Medal. Regular drinkers simply asked for a ‘Lizzie’.

This brews popularity made it difficult to restrict it to being available for only a limited period. Fortunately the high alcohol level enables us to brew enough to last most of the year. This ensures that we keep this ales enthusiasts happy all year round. A strong, dark, heavily hopped seasonal drink.

Regarded as one of the World’s most unusual and prestigious beers. The recipe contains a dense concentration of varied malts and hops to produce a bottle conditioned stout of 9.0% ABV which will develop over six months to one year to develop its qualities. This beer has an intense flavour which is complex and distinctive. The roast, alcoholic and spicy notes combine in this unusually sweet & sour beer.

Porter (4.8% ABV) 24 bottles 275ml
We have taken a Porter recipe of 1859 from Henry Harvey's brewing journal and reproduced it faithfully using pale ale, malt, crystal malt, black malt, locally grown hops, our own spring water and yeast strain.This dark brew was first in its class and overall runner-up at the 1995 GBBF at Olympia.

A premium bottled beer originally brewed as No.1 Brown. It was renamed Exhibition Brown Ale due to the number of awards it gained at succesive International Brewers' Exhibitions. This is Harveys bottled popular winter brew (Old Ale) and we renamed it in 1999 to avoid confusion. This dark, full-bodied beer combines sweetness and strength to produce an exceptionally smooth palate for a discerning public.

Historically so called due to the flavour of the beer, whose roasted malt and caramel sugars produce the ""nutty"" palate of this dark, smooth ale.

A lush, sweet stout named after the county in which it is brewed. Sweet Sussex was a prize winning beer at the International Brewers Exhibition in 1968 and was awarded the Silver Medal at the Brewing Industry International Awards in 1990.

Low Alcohol Bitter

A low-alcohol Sussex pale ale (1%), produced from the Best Bitter. The name is derived from the cockney rhyming slang and is a fitting tribute to the generations of Londoners who harvested the crop in the hop gardens of Sussex and Kent.

Low Alcohol Old Ale

A low-alcohol Sussex old ale (1%), produced from the XXXX and retaining the essential character of this brew. As with the John Hop, the beer is produced identically to the parent product and the alcohol is only removed prior to bottling. A Bronze Medal Winner at the BBI Awards in 1990.

This is one of our very popular Seasonal Ales. Brewed from the new hops especially for the Harvest Festival. It is only available for a limited period each year. Usually from September to December.

Bonfire Boy (5.8%ABV) 24 bottles 275mlBonfire Boy (5.8%ABV) 24 bottles 275ml
Originally brewed to commemerate the gallant work of the Fire Brigade during the fire at the brewery in July 1996 and was originally called Firecracker. We now brew this for the Lewes Bonfire Celebrations each year. This is a Seasonal Ale and only available for a short period of time. Usually from November to December only. Bonfire Boy is an Amber Ale brewed to an original gravity of 1066 - abv 5.8 % Highly roasted Malts are used during the production of this beer to give a slightly burnt quality and a hint of smoke.
