What Was New In 2002
Following the Lewes floods in October 2000 the challenge
to find new and quality wines to replace some of those lost was quite
demanding. The team enjoyed taking up this challenge and found some
great wines for the portfolio, especially from France. With some exciting
Bordeaux wines leading the way.
Bordeaux
Chateau Haut Nivelle Bordeaux Superieur 1999
A firm wine with rasping tannins balanced by good damson fruit and
a traditional quality. The ideal balance and good weight makes this
wine excellent with roast beef.
Chateau Saint Hilaire Medoc 1999
A fine Traditional wine with a good black fruit and a smooth flavour
balance. Medium bodied the weight and style of this wine makes it ideal
to accompany roast meals and steaks.
Chateau De la Nauve St. Emilion 1999
A full flavoured St. Emilion with plummy fruit flavours and good complexity.
This traditional style weighty wine needs red meat dishes for the full
lasting complex finish.

for those with a sweet tooth. On the white wines a quality new Pouilly
Fume was sourced and with the Sancerre and Muscadet Sur Lie this regions
wines offered plenty for the consumer. The tasting team were very pleased
to have these outstanding wines from this region.

This wine has a gooseberry character with a new world style fruit balanced

Domaine Duveau St. Nicholas de Bougueill
A medium bodied red wine with good fruit flavour and a silky finish.
A very pleasant wine with dishes like Spaghetti Bolognese.
